- Step 1. Make a sub-directory off your hard drives main root
- directory called OSIRIS.
-
- Step 2. Log into the OSIRIS sub-directory and extract
- all the Osiris archives.
-
- Step 3. You'll find a program call "OSETUP.EXE". Run this
- program. It will create a number of sub-directories, system
- files, menus, and other support files. It will prompt you for
- several important pieces of information, you'll have no
- trouble answering any of the questions.
-
- Following the installation of the system files, OSETUP will
- edit your autoexec.bat file (A backup will be made) and add
- several SET commands and a PATH statement.
-
- Once Osetup has completed its installation, you MUST REBOOT
- your computer before attempting to log on locally or use any
- Osiris related program. This will cause the SET commands and
- PATH statement that Osetup added to you autoexec.bat file to
- take effect.
-
- Osetup Screens

- If you answer Y to the locked serial port question a window
- will open displaying the following screen.
-
- ╔Select Lock Rate╗
- ║38400 ║
- ║19200 ║
- ║ 9600 ║
- ║ 2400 ║

- After creating a number of files, you'll again get prompted
- for additonal information need to construct the node1.ini

- node1.ini, re-compile it with OSM (under MISC sub-menu).

- ╔Select Minimim Baud Rate for ANSI╗
- ║ 300 ║
- ║ 1200 ║
- ║ 2400 ║
- ║ 9600 ║
- ╚═════════════════════════════════╝
-

- on your system. It's suggest that you set this to at least
- 1200 baud, 2400 if you have heavy ANSI screens.

- ║384K ║
- ║256K ║
- ╚═══════════════════╝

-
- Protocol memory is the AMOUNT of FREE memory VMS is to give

- get by with 256K. The lower the amount of FREE memory you

- Some games or external programs MAY require more than that.
-
- Step 4. The final step will be to create a batch file to run
- Osiris from. Most Sysops, over 80 percent, use a Mailer front-end.
-
- Osiris requires three switches:
-
- -Bxxxxx -Pxx -Nx
-
- See SE300.DOC for additional OPTIONAL switches.
-
- -P is the COMPORT your using 1-8 and -N is the node number (1
- using a test drive copy of Osiris).
-
- Sample Mailer Batch file:
-
- Osiris -B%1 -P%2 -N 1 -T%3
- mailer
-
-
- -T is optional and is the time till next event.
-
- mailer calls the mailer batch file.
-
- You may need to consult your mailer documentation on the
- exact method.
-
- If you fall in the 20 percent that does NOT run a mailer, we
- have a front-end program (very easy to install) called IMX.
-
- This concludes the BASIC installation of Osiris.
